Flirt
A College Romance

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . FLIRT (What Happens on Campus, #2) . . . Back to the What Happens on Campus series where there is drama, sorrow, pain, abuse, drugs, alcohol, friendships, courtships, hookups, family, and a lot more. We find college life was a fall back for Riley Murphy. She finds herself in a situation she was not anticipating. She also finds that she finds friends both good and bad ones. This was a very realistic way to look at college life and life in general. You make plans and those plans have a way of showing you that the plan was not the one meant for you. Riley also find that she needs a friend she could confide in but not wanting it to be new friends that don’t understand. In comes Cam and their complicated and not complicated relationship. These two find that friendship could be the be thing that happens to them but where could this friendship between two very different people lead.

M.L. Sparrow make college life real and also allows for you to fall in to the lives of the characters and make a connection with them. I have read the other book of this series and I would have to say that if you are a realist when you read you will find that this series sticks very close to the actual possibilities of life.

READ-2-REVIEW - Desperate Girls (Wolfe Security #1) by Laura Griffin

Desperate Girls

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . DESPERATE GIRLS (Wolfe Security, #1) . . . Twist, turns, suspense, mystery, intrigue, danger, romance. All this coupled with a sexy, hot, protective ex-secret serviceman and an intelligent, feisty, determined defense attorney.

Brynn was tough, sexy, smart, determined, tough, and in need of protection. Life and its circumstances have caught up with her and she finds that she needs help protecting her life. I say help because Brynn was one of those women that wouldn’t give up her life even when it was in danger. With each step she took in the case, she was putting her life in more danger and more opportunities for her life to end. She was stupid smart, but seemed to lack general common sense. This may have been due to her job. She soon realizes that she needs to give up something to get more.

Erik finds that he becomes tasked with the one job that he could have done without. He also learns that sometimes work is not all there is. Erik was strong, stern, sexy, intense, calm, calculating. He could think clearly when needed and had those moments that allowed you to see the human/male in him.

Wolfe Security is the new series from Laura Griffin and it comes out with the action, drama, suspense, tension, intensity all turned up a few notches. Two hard working, work obsessed people learn a valuable lesson this time around. They learn that there is more to life than the job. The find something more to value.

Laura Griffin for me has always been the one of the authors to go to when you are leaning more to the suspense, intensity, mystery of a romance. There is and for me has always been less of the romance and more of the intrigue of the danger, action, murder. The tones and notes of the broader picture. When I want a romance but one that is not the dominant character of the read. The Wolfe Security series seems to be picking up the gauglant from the Tracer series. Looking for suspense, intrigue, mystery, murder with added hints of romance. You need not look further.

BLURB
Defense attorney Brynn Holloran is right at home among cops, criminals, and tough-as-nails prosecutors. With her sharp wit and pointed words, she has a tendency to intimidate, and she likes it that way. She’s a force to be reckoned with in the courtroom, but in her personal life, she’s a mess.

When a vicious murderer she once helped prosecute resurfaces and starts a killing spree to wipeout those who put him behind bars, one thing becomes clear: Brynn needs to run for her life.

With no help from the police, Brynn is forced to take matters into her own hands, turning to a private security firm for protection. But when Brynn defies advice and gets involved in the investigation, even the former Secret Service agent assigned to protect her may not be able to keep her safe. With every new clue she discovers, Brynn is pulled back into the vortex of a disturbing case from her past.

As the clock ticks down on a manhunt, Brynn’s desperate search for the truth unearths long-buried secrets and reignites a killer’s fury

READ-2-REVIEW - Murder Girl (Lilah Love #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Murder Girl
(Lilah Love #2)by

Montlake Romance

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones returns with the second book in her electrifying series featuring Lilah Love, an FBI profiler who doesn’t fight her dark side—she embraces it.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . MURDER GIRL (Lilah Love, #2) . . . Just a word of caution. . . if you have not read Murder Note stop right now and go back. Read it. You will not be disappointed. This will lead you on a serious journey. The intensity, the mystery, the twist-n-turns, the pacing all lead to a read that will keep you wanting more, all the way to the end. I found that this read complimented and accentuated book one just perfectly. Lilah Love had a darkside and she was very capable of using it to her advantage. The suspense keeps you hanging on and the allure of it all make you want to not stop reading it. Again I would say that its not much on the romance but it sure packs a huge punch when it comes to the mystery, suspense, and crime fiction. This one loads it up and Lilah Love sells it.

BLURB
It’s Lilah Love’s job to inhabit a killer’s mind. The unapologetically tough FBI profiler is very comfortable there. But her latest case is making her head spin. It’s a string of brutal assassinations carried out across the country, each tied to a mysterious tattoo. Body by body, she’s followed the clues all the way back to her hometown. And every step of the way, the killer has been following her.

Here, beneath the glamour of the privileged Hamptons community, is a secret long buried but never forgotten. It’s bigger than Lilah. It’s powerful enough to escape the reach of the FBI. And it’s more personal than anyone can imagine. Because it’s hiding in Lilah’s own past. To fight it, she’s forced to turn to her lethally tempting ex, Kane Mendez. He’s an expert at bringing out Lilah’s darkest impulses. If she plans to survive, she’s going to need them.

READ-2-REVIEW - Heart Land by Kimberly Stuart

by Howard Books

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . HEART LAND . . . There was something sweet and warming about this small-town romance. A romance that takes you back to that first time you fell in love. Learning to see the past with the future and seeing your future in your present. Grace and Tucker was sweet and refreshing at the same time. Heat Land was more than just a girl/woman coming home. It was her chance to fall in love a second time with her hometown and the one true love that would carry her further and any career would ever take her. She had to learn to open her heart, body, and soul to the possibilities. This was hitting bottom and slowly rising back to the top. This was learning that some decisions have ramification well past what one can see. Grace and Tucker had that special something that allowed for them to be apart but not really apart. Life had something more in store for the two of them.

I very much enjoyed the small town atmosphere, the reconnection to roots, the link between two souls, and most of all the characters. This was more than just a romance it was a love story with oneself and life. Grace had her second chance in more than just love. She was allowed to find a way back from a decision that affected more than just her life. Kimberly Stuart gave me a journey and life lesson. My first read from her but will not be my last. Love. Faith. Dreams. Fate. Connection.

BLURB
A story of reconnection, lost love, and the power of faith, Heart Land follows a struggling fashion designer back to her small Iowa hometown as she tries to follow her dreams of success and finding true love.

Grace Klaren has finally made her dream of living in the Big Apple and working in the fashion industry a reality. But when she’s unexpectedly fired and can’t afford the next month’s rent, Grace does something she never thought she’d do: she moves back home.

Back in Silver Creek, Iowa, Grace is determined to hate it. She rails against the quiet of her small town, where everything closes early, where there’s no nightlife, where everyone knows each other. She’s saving her pennies and plotting her return to New York when she almost runs over a man who’s not paying attention at a crosswalk. It turns out to be Tucker, her high school sweetheart whose heart she broke when she left ten years ago. They reconnect, and Grace remembers why she fell for him in the first place.

And her career begins to turn around when she finds a gorgeous but tattered vintage dress at a flea market. She buys it, rips it apart seam by seam, and re-creates it with new fabric, updating the look with some of her own design ideas. She snaps a picture and lists the dress online, and within a day, it sells for nearly $200. Suddenly, Grace has her ticket out of here.

But Grace can’t fight her growing feelings for Tucker. Sometimes when they’re together, Tucker paints a picture of what their future could be like, and it feels so real. And when she finally gains the funding to move her new business back to New York, Grace must decide where home really is—will she chase her long-held New York dream, or find a new dream here in the heartland?

Author Info
Kimberly Stuart wants you to know that authors write their own bios and are hardly reliable sources, particularly if they are writers of fiction. Nevertheless, there are a few facts that stand out:

1. Stuart loves a good story, both written and lived.

2. Stuart loves imported chocolate and her children, though the order of her affections sometimes gets muddled.

3. Stuart writes comedic women's fiction that has an infusion of faith. However, she seems to make Christians nervous. Read at your own risk, then, and e-mail her publisher if you must.
