Read 2 Review - Audrey's Promise by Susan Sheehey

32946565Audrey’s Promise
by Susan Sheehey
Publisher Y & R Publishing

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . AUDREY’S PROMISE . . . Contemporary romance with more women’s fiction laced throughout. This one was all about Audrey. She all about who she is. She was strong, level headed, independent, secure, confident, determined and herself. Ethan was the man that felt he had to take her down a few pegs to make his mark. The read gave you the people to love, to fall in love with, to dislike, to despise, to want to rally around and those to just ignore. I found Audrey to be the strong heroine that had much going for her but family. Ethan respected her but was working to dig up her life. The two together brought about a change in them both. I admit it took me some time to get into this read and finish it but I did finish it. I did enjoy my read.

BLURB
Audrey Allen is poised to become the youngest Texas senator. Achieving her dream is only days away, but there is one person who could stir up serious trouble for her budding career, Ethan Tanner.

An ambitious and tantalizing journalist, Ethan holds a deep grudge against politicians, and his latest target is Audrey Allen. Her seemingly flawless record is too clean for any candidate.

In true journalistic form, he cunningly procures an invite to Thanksgiving dinner at her family home for an in depth look at the candidate. Small town life in East Texas is nothing as it seems, as Audrey’s legendary peacemaking skills in her hometown are fruitless where memories and grudges run deep from a decade old tragedy. Even though his motives are not entirely honorable at the onset, Ethan soon realizes that Audrey’s remarkable abilities and sultry charms could melt HIS grudge away, for good.

With prejudices running both ways, Audrey is determined to keep a short leash on this reporter with the devilish eyes to make sure he keeps his promise of fair reporting. Most journalist only dream of a chance to uncover catastrophic events from a politician’s past, but Ethan’s heart may be changing. Will he find that he values finding love more than getting the story?

Narrator Paula Slade

5 hrs & 54 mins

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . HIS TROPHY WIFE . . . Quick romance with some stops with a bit of drama, jealousy, deception, and mystery. This was the world of the wealthy, privileged, and new comers were not so easily welcomed. When a way was found to step in to this world Sloan Montgomery took it and would pay for the consequences later. Through the many months of marriage keeping up appearances was the norm. For Morganna Ashworth she was feeling trapped and betrayed. She stepped in to this marriage to make sure her mother kept the lifestyle that she had grew accustom to when her father was alive. Things slowly get better but then deception, sabotage, secrets and more makes an appearance.

Narrator: Paula did a good job allowing me to visualize the characters and the situation they were in. The voice over work was clear and distinguishable between sexes. The audio was clean, clear, and easily kept up with the changes in speed.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . A GOOD KIND OF TROUBLE (A Trouble in Twin Rivers, #1) . . . What captivated me was the tagline: "There's always trouble in Twin Rivers...". I wanted to see what this trouble was and if I would like getting to know more about it. Well, I did like it and meeting Beacon news reporter Lindsey Fox was a pleasure. The chick is tenacious. She gets in to lots of trouble and this time needs Ben's help. The same Ben that she had a very bad date with. The same Ben that thinks she is trouble and wants another chance with the intriguing woman.

I loved this read because it had more romance and more mystery and just simply more. Ellie Ashe gave me a read that I could come back to over again. Lindsey was just so fun. This one had the twist the turns and the romance.

Narrator: Denice Stradling did a very good job getting me to get immersed in the world of Twin Rivers. There were ups, downs, ins, outs and Denice's voice reflected the various nuances. I loved there were no hiccups and no issues with the change in speed.

BLURB

Beacon news reporter Lindsey Fox is on the verge of breaking a huge story of political corruption that will make her career and make her famous journalist parents proud—or she could be thrown in jail and fired. It really could go either way.

Her recent streak of bad luck continues when Lindsey finds herself facing a bogus contempt charge—and attorney Ben Gillespie is appointed to get her out of the slammer. They once had a bad date of epic proportions—stilted conversation, food poisoning, burglary, towed car. Then there was the incident with the pepper spray. Lindsey never believed she’d see the sexy lawyer again.

Ben can totally believe that Lindsey is behind bars. The woman is trouble. Now he has to get his new client out of jail, keep her out of the grasp of a crazed bike messenger and a shady P.I., help her save her job, and convince her to put down the pepper spray and give him another chance.

Listen 2 Review - Jester (No Prisoners MC, #2) by Lilly Atlas

Narrator Andrea Emmes
Publisher Lilly Atlas Books
8 hrs & 7 mins

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . JESTER (No Prisoners MC, #2) . . . Jester has had me from the beginning. Big. Big. Big. All over and he was the glue for them that kept them together and safe. He was taken by a beauty that did not belong. Never questioning why. The ride he took was one that needed to take place. He found that one. He found his peace. At the same time he was about to lose her. No one comes before that club. This about cost him something more than the club.

Sweet Emily was loving, caring and in a lot of trouble. She would do anything to save her brother. She loved him. But this was maybe more than she could pull off. She had to walk into the den grab intel and make it back alive and whole. She just did not foresee Jester becoming that beacon of light she was looking for. She put it all on the line and then some. She almost died in the process. What does love what you to sacrifice?

Narrator Review of . . . Acer (No Prisoners MC, #3) . . . Both of the narrators for this bad boy, mc, contemporary romance have hit the nail on the head with their perspective performances. Noah Michael Levine he just hooked me from got. I have followed this series on audio since book one and to say that I am on the edge would be putting things mildly. I love his voice. The smoothness that flows and allows for flawless transitions. He has pitch and diction down for both the male and female characters. He gives the character Hook that perfect accent. Just on his voice alone makes me want so much more of the No Prisoners MCs series. Erin deWard did a fabulous job with both male and female characters. I could distinguish between characters and gender. The flow of the audio was perfect. It kept pace with speed variation. There were no hiccups or skips.

I highly recommend this read to any and everyone that loves MC romances, Bad Boy romances, romances with a hint of dangers, and slight suspense.

No Prisoners MC series:
Hook - No Prisoners MC, #.5
Striker -  No Prisoners MC, #1
Jester - No Prisoners MC, #2
Acer - No Prisoners MC, #3
Lucky - No Prisoners MC, #4
Snake - No Prisoners MC, #5

BLURB

Thrust into a world of danger and fear, first grade teacher, Emily, is forced to comply with a terrifying MC president’s demands in order to save her only brother’s life. Her only port in the storm is Jester, a member of a rival MC she’s supposed to use and betray. Jester proves to be the opposite of everything Emily expects, and before long she’s in his bed and he’s in her heart.

Jester would give life and limb for the No Prisoner’s Motorcycle Club. His sole focus should be on the impending attack against their enemies, the Grimm Brothers. Meeting sweet and innocent Emily wasn’t part of his plan, and falling for her is out of the question.

Can Emily save her brother’s life without destroying the man who opens her eyes and heart to an amazing world of pleasure? She’ll do anything in her power to help her brother while protecting Jester, but when Jester finds out she was sent by his enemy, she may lose everything she’s trying to preserve.

Listen 2 Review - YA Paranormal - Wickedly They Come by Cathrina Constantine

Wickedly They Come cover artWickedly  They Come
The Wickedly Series, #1
by Catharina Constantine
Narrator Andrea Emmes
Publisher CHBB Publishing
7 hrs & 46 mins

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . WICKEDLY THEY COME (The Wickedly Series, #1) . . . YA Dark Paranormal Thirller that was spot on. It gave and gave.

This was a battle that was hard fought by Jordan & Seeley with some help from Mark & Zeke. I found things moved fast, there was action, drama, and thrills to please. This was like a battle of good versus evil. The fight for a child born of dark and light and the dark wanted what was stolen from them when Jordan's parents fell in love and her dad walked away from the dark. This YA read had the angst of teens and the lure for adults to get them to see the epic battle coming ahead for this young offspring caught in the middle of it all.

Narrator Andrea Emmes gave me a listen that I enjoyed. The ebb and flow of the her voice was complementary of the story. I found a few flat spots but that was quickly overlooked when things took off again. The audio had no hiccups and worked perfectly when speed was increased.

BLURB
A Gripping Dark Paranormal Thriller!

A Destined Prophecy along with haunting visions and supernatural talents are the norm for the sixteen-year-old, Jordan and her mother Seeley. Together with their formidable angels they find themselves in peril when a wicked sorcerer is determined to fulfill the prophecy to his lord, Lucifer.
