The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . RIMRIDER (Rimrider Adventures, #1) . . . My children loved listening to this book. Each afternoon after they grabbed a snack and got comfortable this was our daily read for an hour and half each day of one week.

We most certainly did not get any whiny, crybaby characters. We did get action, adventure, sweet little romance, and much sassy humor. We had fun listen then talking about it and what would happen next over dinner that evening.

I do recommend this read as a bounding between parents and children. We had fun and an adventure for five days straight. There was a bonding going with Will, Jane and even Mac. this was most certainly and YA Space Opera. There was the sense of adventure from the onset. Spaceships. Smugglers. Secrecy. Death. Sibling. Love.

My first encounter with Cassandra Richardson's work. Her voice smooth and well suited for the characters of this read. It was pitched well and clear. The audio was clean and clear which may have lead to the few instances where we were having a little trouble determining which character was talking. At times some sounding almost the same, but after listening further you find out it was someone else.

The narration help to make it easier for younger children to get into the characters and the adventure.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . HOW TO STEAL A HIGHLANDER . . . No idea what I was getting myself into, but that was not the issue. I was pulled in by the fact that it was going to take place in the highlands of Scotland (past and present) and that there was an element of romance, a bit of suspense and mystery and the story took place across time.  Kat of modern times and Simeon a cursed highland male. This was one that required you to pay attention, sit back and enjoy the journey as it began in 1600s Scotland. Come on and enjoy the ride. 

The narration from Greg Patmore brings to life the depth of the Scottish hills and this unlikely romance of a modern theif and a highland warrior. I loved the accent and the rich timber that resonated throughout the story. I felt immersed in the world of highland warriors and a modern times thief. It was the narration that pulled it all together for me and allowed me to feel part of the historical/contemporary fiction.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . WAITING FOR AEGINA (The Gift Saga, #2) . . . The second time around was just as pleasing and ear catching as the first time. I was able to bond with new friends and watch as their lives continue on new paths took on new meaning and define the direction of their long friendships. 

Absolutely beautiful read of friendship. We revisit an emotionally filled read that took me on a journey through a deep lasting friendship of five women. Their early years. Their teen years. There adult years of love, loss, family, triumphs, sorrows and more.  Visiting Sophia again and getting to see more of her life and her friends (Demi, Amy, Mindy and Donna).  

The narrator Emily Lawrence gave some spark and life to the telling of this tale of friendship that span fifty years. The audio was clear and smooth. Emily gave life to each of the characters and allowed her voice to reflect the emotional ups and downs of the events that unfolded over years.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . SOUL BOUND: The Warrior . . . I said it before when I listened to it for the first time. Now, I will say it again this was a deep listen. There were layers, depth, hidden spaces. The fight was real. The war hard. The battle fought and won after much. We find that "Death may be the den but love doesn't give. . . " Well worth the first and second listen. 
Jace did not have much left in his life. The one woman he loved was gone. The business he world so hard to grown was being attacked. The life he build was all crumbling. Years later he finds that life still keeps handing him lemons. The harder he tries to make lemonade the more things seem to sour. That was until he finds something more to live for and fight for. 

Kitt finds that her life has come down to the here and now. Taking a chance on a date for a friends. She finds that she has a connection to the man with the soulful eyes. There was just something about him. Something that had her taking a chance. 

This was not your typical PNR. This was more. This was so much more. There are things in this world we just can't simply explain. The pages of life and death have never been so bound as they are here. Jace finds that his life has never really been his own. He finds that there was more to who he is then what was presented on the outside. He finds that in order to live life he has to die. This takes him on more than a journey. This takes him on a life changing spin about the realms. 

I wanted so much to give this one a big set of stars but I found that I had too many unanswered questions and an ending that showed me not hint of how soon it will be resolved. 

Narrator review was good but not good. I wanted so much for the males to sound and feel more masculine. There were some good moments. The women had good voice, pitch, diction and distinction. I was looking for more richness from the various males featured. The audio was good, clean and clear and able to keep up with speed changes.
