Astraeus by Haley Cavanagh

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . ASTRAEUS . . . Earth on the verge of one final blow that would take the world to apocalyptic states. The mission that was deemed necessary to find a solution to Earth's issues. And the one doctor (woman) that stood in the way of Earth's possible future.

Astraeus was a science fiction alien romance that gave me as good as I got. Dr. Sakota Thorell was a strong willed woman that was on the forefront of a possible new chance for Earth and all her inhabitants. She just didn't count on an alien, the attraction, or the threat to the world she was sent to try and save.

Narration was well received. I enjoyed listening to the cadence of Steve Campbell's voice. I loved the clarity of his voice. The tone and pitch matched the surrounding story. Discoverying extraterrestrial life was fascinatingly fun with this story and the narrator to guide you along the way.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Audiobookworm Promotions on behalf of various authors, narrators, and publishers. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
 1/2 stars

One pre-apocalyptic Earth. One desperate space mission to find a solution. One unexpected alien.

When Dr. Sakota Thorell signed onto the mission to scout out a new, habitable planet, she knew discovering extraterrestrial life was always a possibility. But she never expected to find an alien adrift in space, nor for that alien to be so intriguing. Sakota feels an instant and undeniable attraction to Astraeus, but he represents a million possibilities, and just as many threats.

There are others hunting Astraeus, and his rescue may cost Earth its last hope.

WATCHER
The Watcher Series, #1
by AJ Eversley
Narrators: Chelsea Stephens, Steve Campbell
Length: 8 hours and 13 minutes
Released: October 6th 2018
Publisher: Author AJ Eversley
Genre: Science Fiction; Young Adult

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . .WATCHER (The Watcher, #1) . . . I found it just as good the second time around. I was lured in to this ultra sci-fi fantasy world where the world in not quite what it use to be and living day to day was a shot in the dark. A world where science and the dabbling in cloning has escalated to something so much more.

One exciting exploration in a world of copied humans, advanced humans, protective humans, a world like none we know of. Or is it? Could this be the world to come? I was excited and allured by the depth and details of this world shared via first person POV. It was filled with action, intensity, fantasy, intrigue. There was a world like one could image would come to take place if various science and genetic copying was to be permitted openly. There are many things to draw you in, but for me it was from the beginning and jumping of that enormous building to the ground and engaging the enemy, alone.

The narration pair did a good job trading off and bring in their own styles and level of complexity that makes you feel like you are experiencing the world first hand. The two voices makes for an engaging listen. I anticipate the next audio release of the series. Listening to the book allowed for the pictures of the words to just come to life in my mind. Allowing me to make a deeper connection with the characters, the world, the story.

"I knew I was not alone. They would never leave until every last one of us was gone."

Sawyer Russo has sworn to protect humanity, and as a Watcher she's done just that. But the Bots and Carbons that took her city are evolving, and they start picking the Watchers off one by one.

One last rescue mission will change everything. When someone betrays them, the line between friend and foe is no longer easily drawn. Sawyer made a vow, and she will fulfill it, even if it means ending the person who deceived them, no matter who it might be.

It all comes down to one choice...

Who can she save?

And who does she have to let go?
