Portrait of Passion (Idyllwild #1)

The Book Junkie Reads . . .  Review of . . . PORTRAIT OF PASSION (Idyllwid, #1)  . . . I got lost enough in this romance between the fiercely determined Beatrice (my grandma's name) and Simon that I allowed time to melt. I could have read this romance in historical or modern times. It was smooth and applicable to either time frame. Bea was strong, INDEPENDENT, resourceful, carefree, courageous, exuberant person. She keeps her head on her shoulders and press forward. She had a plan and allowed nothing to get in her way. Simon was the older, wiser cousin to the Earl and he thought he was on protection duty. There was much her to enjoy. I loved getting to know all the characters not just Bea and Simon.

Portrait of Passion was sweet, delightful, historical read of a strong, independent young female with a plan to gain her family heritage back. She just never expected to find love along the way. Simon was the kind of hero that you fall in love with early on. He was a strong man that knew the value of family and how to protect them. He may have went about protecting his cousin from Bea in an non-traditional way but the job was done. Bea was not with his cousin. Bea was almost unexpected. She had a plan, friends and determination. The combination of it all gave passion, chemistry, a certain intensity, a few tears, raw innocence, and more.

Ms. Barron had earned herself a reader. This was a romance, not just historical, this was a romance that could cross lines and make you enjoy whatever time period you are in.

BLURB
What’s a gentleman to do when a mysterious lady with a secret past and a reputation frayed around the edges suddenly appears in London in pursuit of his naive young cousin, setting the gossips’ tongues wagging, stirring his family into pandemonium, and driving him mad with her irreverent ways?

If the gentleman in question is Simon Carlisle, Viscount Easton, the answer is quite simple. Seduce the beguiling lady. But Miss Beatrice Morgan isn’t your average tarnished lady. She’s lived a slapdash life wandering the globe like a gypsy, painting fantastical portraits of duchesses and landscapes featuring a crumbling old fountain, all the while harboring a secret desire to return to the only home she’s ever known.

Will Beatrice sacrifice her honor, her virtue, her very heart to reclaim Idyllwild?

Widow's Wicked Wish (Idyllwild)
The Book Junkie Reads . . .  Review of . . . WICKED WIDOW’S WISH (Idyllwid, #2)  . . . Unlike the first book there was a certain feel of absolutely being in a historical time period. There were the strictures put upon sweet Olivia. I fell in love with her from the very beginning. I could empathize with her right from the start. Olivia stifled who she was to be the perfect wife, mother, countess. She did not have the chance to live and be her, that was until her husband's death. Olivia finds much freedom in her late husbands death/disgrace.

Jack comes back in to Olivia's life after what could be classified as a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding that set Olivia into the arms, bed and life of another. Jacks does not quite see things that way. He sees things as Olivia betraying him and of course being a man. He wants a bit of revenge or would you call it that when the both want the same thing to a point. They say watch what you wish for.

Olivia finds comfort and freedom in her short entanglement with Jack. That was her opening for her freedom, until something changes everything and she finds herself married again. Up goes the mask and locked behind a door goes the freedom she so desperately wanted.

Ms. Barron gave me another sizzzling hot, sexy steammmy historical romance with great characters, and second chance to live life, to have real love, and to get to know one's self.

BLURB
The Countess of Palmerton has lived her life by Society’s rules, marrying the right man, bearing the required heir and guarding her name at all costs. And what has she received in return? A loveless union, a cold marriage bed and a reputation for perfect propriety.

Upon her husband’s death, Olivia flees the whispers of his disgraceful demise, seeking sanctuary and solace at Idyllwild.

When the man who once held her tender heart in his hands arrives on the eve of a snowstorm, Olivia dares to cast a wicked wish to the winter sky.
Be careful what you wish for.

Jack Bentley has a wish of his own, one he has no intention of relinquishing to the fickle hand of fate. Determined to reclaim the life snatched from his grasp by a young, careless Olivia more than a decade previously, Jack sets in motion a plan to seduce the beautiful widow.

Far from the glitter and gossip of London, Olivia savors her first taste of freedom and revels in the passion she discovers in Jack’s arms, never suspecting his amorous attentions are motivated by more than desire.
Until scandal looms, wishes collide and old secrets are revealed.

Will Jack lose Olivia’s love forever? Or might he somehow convince the wonderfully wicked widow to entrust her heart into his keeping once more?

Unraveling the Earl (Idyllwild Book 3)
The Book Junkie Reads . . .  Review of . . . Unraveling The Earl (Idyllwid, #3)  . . . A bit more spice, steamy, and sexiness than the previous books of this series. This one brought the heat and then some. Georgiana was more than the average young miss of the time. She was quote "...a woman with murky morals, warped notions of right and wrong, a talent for dancing around the truth, and a penchant for attending weddings and funerals without invitation." I liked her on the spot. She was spunky. She knew what she wanted and she did not waste time. Sorry to say Henry was more like a backdrop for me in this read. There was more to Georgiana and she stole the show for me.

BLURB
The Earl of Hastings’ reputation as London’s greatest gift to the ladies has taken on a life of its own and he is only too happy to live up to in one Mayfair bedchamber after another. Until he encounters a lady more interested in poking around his country estate than sampling his lauded charms.

Georgiana Buchanan is a woman with murky morals, warped notions of right and wrong, a talent for dancing around the truth, and a penchant for attending weddings and funerals without invitation.

When Georgie catches Henry’s roving eye, she turns the tables on the arrogant scoundrel, introducing him to a world of sensual delights and unraveling his vaunted control before fleeing into the night.

Henry is determined to make the elusive Georgiana his mistress while the lady wants only to use his desire to further her own schemes. When they find themselves marooned at Idyllwild during a summer storm, they will both discover they’ve gotten more than they bargained for.
