The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . SWEET PURSUITS . . . I love a good second chance romance. I love it even more when its the woman that sets her eyes on her man and make it all happen on her own. Okay so that does not happen much, but this time around Belle has a plan put in place and a way to get things moving. It was just a few things that tripped her up. Belle had to first fine love within and about herself. I started reading this one for the reason of finding me a romance, a good second chance for two people, but I ended with just wanting Belle to find that love for herself.

Having thing in the first person allowed for me to see what was really going on with Belle. What direction her head was going while her heart was going in another. The inner and outer Belle seemed to agree most of the time but there were moments. It was a growing experience for Belle to get both her inner and outer self on the same page and moving in the right direction. This was Belle's first chance at love, love of herself for all that she was and could be.

Wiles did a good job giving Belle a supportive cast of characters. The banter, the antics, the disasters, the triumphs, the struggles, the realizations. Belle held the key. Belle figuring things out was entertaining to watch from all aspects of it.

Looking for a light hearted but realistic comedy with a touch of romance but more about oneself. Take the time pick up Sweet Pursuits.

BLURB
What’s the recipe for a second chance at love?

After six blissful years with scientist boyfriend Owen, Bella Beecham was convinced he was about to pop the question she’d been longing to hear. Instead, he accepted a prestigious job in California and left England without a backwards glance. Now, Owen’s back in the village of Saffron Sweeting, and appears to be more eligible than ever. Bella’s determined that the man of her dreams won’t slip through her fingers again.

But her plans to tone up, trim down, and tempt Owen back into her life prove bittersweet. Although Bella’s talent for baking wins her new friends, her tasty treats have a disconcerting tendency to sabotage her own intentions. And as her increasingly bold attempts to recapture Owen’s heart stumble, Bella must question whether she’s chasing a guy who wants to be caught.

A British romantic comedy featuring both familiar characters and fresh faces, Sweet Pursuits explores how a young woman seeking her soulmate must first learn to love herself.
